Sun eMediCare Income-i

Sun eMediCare Income-i is an individual yearly renewable medical and health takaful plan with surplus sharing that provides comprehensive hospital income coverage up to age 70.

This plan provides daily hospital income benefit in the event the person covered is hospitalised due to all causes (illness or accidental causes).

This plan also provides additional daily hospital income benefit if the person covered is hospitalised due to specified infectious diseases*, hospitalised in overseas, or confined in an intensive care unit of a hospital.

* Specified infectious diseases refer to Dengue Fever, Chikungunya Fever, Malaria, Japanese Encephalitis, Avian Influenza or Zika Virus Infection. Please refer to the contract document for the definition of specified infectious disease.

This plan is managed by Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad <Registration Number: 200501012215 (689263-M)>, a takaful operator registered with Bank Negara Malaysia under the Islamic Financial Services Act 2013.

Malaysian citizen or a permanent resident residing in Malaysia, and aged from 18 to 55 can participate into Sun eMediCare Income-i.

Each individual is only allowed to participate in one Sun eMediCare Income-i Plan.

The contribution that you need to pay depends on your age, gender and selected plan. Please note that the contribution rates are non-guaranteed and will increase according to your attained age upon contract anniversary. Kindly refer to the Product Disclosure Sheet for the amount that you need to pay.

The contribution can be paid via credit card or debit card. You also have the flexibility to select your preferred payment frequency to meet your financial needs.

Yes. Subject to our approval, you may change the frequency of contribution payments upon contract renewal by giving us written notice before the expiry of the grace period*.

* Grace period of 30 days is given from the contribution due date for the payment of contribution. If you do not pay the contribution within 30 days grace period from the contribution due date, your contract will lapse with immediate effect.

No, you are not allowed to use third party’s credit card or debit card to pay your contribution. The credit or debit cardholder must be the named contract holder / person covered.

No. There are no additional fees and charges other than your contribution payment.

Exclusions
No benefit shall be payable if the hospitalisation of the person covered is resulted directly or indirectly from, or as a result of the following:

1. Suicide, attempted suicide or self-inflicted injury/harm irrespective of the person covered’s mental state, willful or negligent exposure to unnecessary risks or perils;
2. Being under the influence of drugs or any narcotic or due to intoxication by liquor and/or illicit substance;
3. Criminal act, involvement in a breach of law (unless as an innocent party) or membership of an illegal organisation;
4. War, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities or warlike operations (whether war be declared or not), strike, riot, civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, civil commotion assuming the proportions of or amounting to an uprising, military or usurped power;
5. Participation in any hazardous sport or pastime or activities, including but not limited to aerial activity, bungee jumping, rock climbing or mountaineering, underwater activities, racing of any type other than on foot;
6. While engaging in professional sport activities of any kind;
7. Exposure from any radiation material from any source;
8. Disease(s) resulting from Acquired Immuno-deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), AIDS-related complex or infection by Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV);
9. Childbirth, pregnancy and related complications thereof;
10. Any treatment or surgical operation for congenital abnormalities or deformities including hereditary conditions;
11. Any pre-existing conditions;
12. Any medical or physical conditions arising within the waiting period, except for hospitalisation due to accident;
13. Specified illnesses occurring within the first 120 days from the contract commencement date or last reinstatement date, whichever is later;
14. Dental conditions including dental treatment or oral surgery except as necessitated by accidental injuries to sound natural teeth occurring wholly during the contract year;
15. Hospitalisation primarily for investigatory purposes, diagnosis, X-ray examination, general physical or medical examinations, not incidental to treatment or diagnosis of a covered disability or any treatment which is not medically necessary and any preventive treatments, preventive medicines or examinations carried out by a Physician, and treatments specifically for weight reduction or gain;
16. Investigation and treatment of sleep and snoring disorders, hormone replacement therapy and alternative therapy such as treatment, medical service or supplies, including but not limited to chiropractic services, acupuncture, acupressure, reflexology, bone setting, herbalist treatment, massage or aroma therapy or other alternative treatment;
17. Plastic/Cosmetic surgery, circumcision, eye examination, glasses and refraction or surgical correction of near sightedness (Radial Keratotomy or Lasik) and the use or acquisition of external prosthetic appliances or devices such as artificial limbs, hearing aids, implanted pacemakers and prescriptions thereof;
18. Private nursing, rest cures or sanitaria care, sterilisation, venereal disease and its sequelae, and any communicable diseases required quarantine by law;
19. Psychotic, mental or nervous disorders (including any neuroses and their physiological or psychosomatic manifestations);
20. Hospitalisation for sex change procedures;
21. Hospitalisation for donation of any body organ by a person covered; or
22. Private flying other than as a fare-paying passenger in any commercial scheduled airlines licensed to carry passengers over established routes.

Exclusion on covered event due to Specified Infectious Diseases
No benefit shall be applicable or payable if the hospitalisation of the person covered incurred directly or indirectly, wholly or partly, by any of the following occurrence:

1. The covered event occurring within 30 days from the contract commencement date or last reinstatement date, whichever is later;
2. Any other causes other than Dengue Fever, Chikungunya Fever, Malaria, Japanese Encephalitis, Avian Influenza or Zika Virus Infection; or
3. Any pre-existing conditions.

There is no option for plan upgrade or downgrade. Please give due consideration to the protection amount you require before participation.

Yes, you can cancel the contract after participating in it. You are given a free look period of 15 days from the delivery date of the contract. During this period, you should review your contract to ensure it is suitable for you and it meets your needs. If you decide not to take up the contract for whatever reason after it has been issued, you may cancel the contract by giving written notice to us within the free look period. We will refund any contribution paid.

If you cancel after 15 days from the delivery of the contract, you will be covered under the contract until the date when the next contribution becomes due. There will be no cash value or pro-rated contribution payable.

Sun eMediCare Income-i does not provide any cash surrender value.

Yes, 30 days waiting period from the contract commencement date or last reinstatement date, whichever is later, is applicable to all illnesses and specified infectious diseases with the exception of specified illnesses which shall be subjected to 120 days waiting period.
Specified Illness shall mean the following disabilities and its related complications:

• Hypertension, diabetes mellitus or cardiovascular disease;
• All tumours, cancers, cysts, nodules, polyps, stones of the urinary system and biliary system;
• All ear, nose (including sinuses) and throat conditions excluding flu and sore-throat;
• Hernias, haemorrhoids, fistulae, hydrocele or varicocele;
• Endometriosis including disease of the female reproductive system; or
• Vertebro-spinal disorders (including disc) and knee conditions.

Yes, the contribution paid for Sun eMediCare Income-i may qualify you for personal income tax relief subject to the final decision by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia.
